Next Faculty Workshop – Virtual Office Hours

Save the Date: Wednesday November 17th 4pm-5pm EST

Virtual office hours are a great way to make yourself available to your students. From various instant messaging clients, to email, to chat rooms, distance faculty have numerous ways to be readily available to their students, should they have any questions about their courses. We will look at instant messaging platforms such as Meebo and Trillian. These two programs allow you to connect to a variety of instant messaging clients, such as AOL, Yahoo, Google Talk, etc., under one account. We will also look at the Angel chat feature, as another tool that can be used for virtual office hours. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, November 17th from 4-5PM EST. If you would like to attend the workshop, please RSVP to me by Monday, November 15th at jsparks@sjcme.edu.

The workshop will be delivered over the internet as an interactive audio conference. Speakers are required for this workshop.

Please keep an eye out on the Course Design and Delivery blog for new weekly segments that will be posted there. These segments will tie in with the workshops that will be offered. Next week, our Instructional Designer, Tony Schwieterman, will be posting information about the various uses for virtual office hours and the wide variety of tools that are available to you. Stay tuned for his “Instructional Design Ideas” post next week!

Have a great day!

~ Justin
